Help out a clueless noob

I tried searching, but everything I find is way above my head, or way too specific, and I have no idea how to use this stuff.

I bought a My Book Live external HD. I also have a new Lenovo laptop, a PS3, and a Cisco wireless router (from Centurylink) that my MBL and PS3 are plugged directly into.

I followed the setup processes that came with the hardware. Now, I'm not sure how to get my media files (currently only in itunes) onto my Twonky..server? account? thing? I dunno what it's "on". Anyways, I can see the Twonky icon on my PS3, but it can't access anything from there. I'd like to play music or look at photos on my PS3, that Twonky pulled (or accessed or whatever) from my MBL (which gets it from my computer).

Hopefully someone can decipher my pathetic attempt at a question and help me out, thanks!

Also, if I need to do something, explain it like I'm someone who's over 80 or under 10.

edit: I watched a couple of the how-to videos. It shows the guy connect everything, go to his PS3, and all his stuff is there. That doesn't happen for me.

There are a couple of things you ae going to have to do to make this work the way you want
There is more involved to the below steps,
But they are what is needed to make what you want to happen

1.
You are going to first have to make sure that the My Book Live external HD is configured
so that you can copy files to a file share

2.
Once your My Book Live external HD is configured so that you can copy files to it.
From your Computer, find and select what ever video, music, and photos you want
and copy them to the configured file share from step #1

3.
Once the media you want has been copied to the My Book Live external HD
You can now configure Twonky on the My Book Live external HD
to use the file share from the previous steps
as the point at which it will look for media to stream to the network

Note:
Tha fact that the PS3 sees the Twonky Icon is a good thing at this point
as it means that the My Book Live external HD is on the network and working
and that Twonky is on the network and working
