How do you upgrade Twonky on the new WD My Book Live Duo? The solution for the single drive My Book Live doesn't seam to work.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Jonathan

I saw this post from Parnott which may point you in the right direction. However, you should not attempt upgrading your NAS unless you have some experience with Linux.
See the 4th post in this thread.

Change the download link to 6.0.38 or more recent is 6.0.39.
The newest NAS downloads are here:

With those instructions, I got Twonky Server to run, but it wouldn't save any changes after restart.

Any tips on that??

Thanks!

If you are losing your configuration files after a reboot, then the Twonky appdata (configurtion, datebase, etc.) is not being stored in a location that is preserved across a reboot.

The default location for the Twonky appdata on Linux is in the /var directory. However, most NAS devices reinitialise this directory on reboot. So you lose your settings, plus the media database.

You need to create a directory in a location that does not get reinitialised during a reboot. Then you must use the -appdata command line option on the command line that starts Twonky to point to that directory.

So for my NAS device (which is not a WD) the command that starts Twonky server has the option
-appdata /share/1000/twonky

Dear Parnott.

Thank you for your reply.

Unfortunately I am a novice with Linux. I tried to follow you previous instructions but when I restart Twonky it looses the settings (not after restarting the NAS-drive it self.) I am able to start TwonkyServer via the :9000 interface, and it looks fine, but I am not able save anything, and therefor not able to point to my shares...

Could you perhaps help with specific instructions on installing TwonkyServer on the WD Live Duo? I would be most greatful since I can't do it myself. The present media server on the Duo don't play MKVs and WD are not helpful at all.

Thank you in advance.

I do not own a My Book Live Duo so I am not familiar with how the disk/partions are configured on this device. Therefore I can not give you any specific instructions.

Sorry.
