NAS version of TwonkyServer 7.x?

Post by Jeeosch » Wed Mar 21, 2012 3:19 pm

Hi there!

I'm just curious to know if there will be a version 7.x of TwonkyServer for NAS and moreover a Kirkwood build for my Synology NAS.

Also, would I need to purchase a new license?
Or is there any upgrade offer for existing users?

Many thanks for an info/help on this!

Best,

Jeeosch

A download link?
Something?

When I tried to run "twonkystarter", I got the error "For image conversion and scaling the TwonkyMedia server utilizes ImageMagick...". I did everything according to the instructions. What do I do in order to run the Server 7.0.5 on my Synology NAS DS111?

That is an information/license requirement message. It has been there for as long as I can remember.

Are you saying that Twonky does not start after displaying this message?

What is the comand line you are using to start Twonky?

It would also help if you post the output from your terminal window.

For image conversion and scaling the TwonkyServer utilizes ImageMagick. For details on the license please see /usr/local/twonky/cgi-bin/convert-readme.txt

What are you expecting to see after that message? If I recall that is all I have ever seen when Twonky starts.

Do you see Twonky run when you run a ps aux command in Putty after starting Twonky?

PS. I don't think the twonky.sh script will work very well (if at all) on a NAS. It is meant for mainstream Linux.

I am trying to research some NAS that will be capable of running twonky server 7.
I am currently researching DS212J by synology which runs on a Marvell Kirkwood mv6281 processor.

is there a build of TwonkyServer 7 which will run on this particular NAS?
Or is there a QNAP alternative to DS212J which can run the TwonkyServer 7 special build (and which version am i seeking out from the link below?)

http://www.twonkyforum.com/downloads/7.0.5-Special/

From what it seems the Marvell Armada is an ARM processor so a linux build should suffice, however which one (big or little endian) and which lib (glibc or uclibc)? Or is it the kirkwood build?

Also, I wanted to know if subtitle support is also enabled via the NAS as it is supported through TwonkyServer on the Windows 7 PC.

Thanks,
chhatc
