four digit year should be an accetpable format for year tag

I know that twonky stores its year in unix time
But that shouldn't stop it from making the year 1900 if the tag only has four digits
I have always got around this by making sure that I use "2014-01-01" in my tagging program for example
But there are some tagging programs that do NOT allow for one to do that, I know iTunes doesn't
Would it not be possible for twonky to read the YEAR=2014 tag if there is one
and then populate the twonky database with that info and just add "-01-01" to it?
as doing that should put the year issue in the rear view mirror
I think it is a bit much to ask people to retag there entire collection to meet a unix time requirement
