I recently bought twonky 7 and it works flawlessly between my mac and a panasonic viera tv. According to the twonky site the software is also capable to stream online content, although I cannot see an obvious way of doing this.
Is it possible to stream FilmOn channels from my computer to the tv? What do I need to do?

thank you

Chris

TwonkyServer Revision History for 7.x

· Access to Online Services through Twonky Server will be discontinued in the near
future and replaced by Cloud features in Twonky SDK. In the current version of
Twonky Server, the option is already turned off by default. You can turn it on again
by changing the ini-file. Set “disablemytwonky=0” and the Online Services are back.
However, in one of the next versions we will remove this feature completely.
Starting in 7.3 by default the onlineservices is set to off
You can enable it with this command

Code: Select all

http://127.0.0.1:9000/rpc/set_option?disablemytwonky=0
If you are using 7.2.x this is the url to access the config page for it

Code: Select all

http://127.0.0.1:9000/#onlineservices
If you are using 7.3.x this is the url to access the config page for it

Code: Select all

http://127.0.0.1:9000/webconfig#onlineservices
What they offer to be shown in the server navtree from the online services is limited

As to whether one can create a new MyTwonky account, is the first hurdle
Im not sure if one can create one if you didn't already have one

As to whether or not it will have what you want, is the second hurdle
Im betting that what you want to stream using MyTwonky is not going to happen, I could be wrong
Is it possible to stream FilmOn channels from my computer to the tv? What do I need to do?
If you had Twonky Beam on a mobile device already, it "might" be possible
But.. The app is not available in app stores anymore

Thanks for the reply.
I was able to create a new account, but yes the service is only limited to youtube, Facebook and a few others.
I was able to download twonky beam on the iPad (belkin beam now) and it does work most of the time, but I find it a very inelegant way to watch internet tv.

General question, I am new to all this and I am generally satisfied with Twonky (and paid money for it over all the free alternatives) , as it works beautifully with my very quirky Panasonic Viera but what is going on with Twonky?

non-existent documentation, important settings hidden from general view, a twonky beam that is no longer twonky and information on the website that seems outdated or simply optimistic. I mean I had to actually install the Twonky manager in another computer to understand what is all about, the information on the site is laughable. Is it a hobby software or is there an actual company behind them?

thank you again

Chris

Glad you were able to create an account to at least be able to see what it does and what it doesnt
I think beaming has its place, just as airplay does, and the other miracast, google, roku, dongle etc things

That is the 1M$ question, I used to have some contact with them, but that went dark a while ago

consumer documentation has never been there strong feature,
they relied on video formats to show people what to do

Packet Video, really deals with the OEM space, though they did venture into consumer space with Twonky
They were gung ho in the consumer space for a few years, but then what appears to be a pullback started
This forum in the beginning was close with the community, then they went to the other one, and then killed it
and now this one is still here, but...
