Anyone else having buffering "issues" with 2.9??

Post by auslander » Mon Jul 25, 2005 2:49 am

Hi all,

Please have a look at the poll and respond accodingly ... I've had frustration since 2.9 was released ;(

I'm hoping I'm not the only one, but it may be....hence the poll :)

Thanks,

aus

[edit]

Running TV on SuSE 9.2 - 2.6.8 (default) kernel
serving Netgear MP101 and D-Link DSM-320
this worked nearly flawlessly under TV 2.8 with a few "tweaks" thrown in for music buffer and video buffer size.

Under TV 2.9, my MP101 pops and crackles and sometimes just stops and skips to next song or displays "unable to play song" message.

Video playback on my (wired) DSM-320 hiccups along from time to time and drops frames now and again on xvid-encoded vids (they played fine on 2.8)

This has forced me to go back to TV 2.8 for now.

Smooth sailing here..but I delete each older version and have the XP firewall relearn each new version.

Yes, I am having the same issue. I am using MediaServer 2.9 with the MP101.

I'm having the same issues with TV 2.9 and the MP101. Mine starts a song (any song) and withing 3 seconds jumps to the next song, even with firewall turned off completely. I was pretty happy with TV 2.8, except that the MP101 would stop recognizing it after a few hours of running. I was hoping 2.9 would fix that, but I may have to go back to 2.8.

I should also note that I am using a wired setup, not wireless.

2.9 and mp101

Post by rockerjim » Mon Aug 01, 2005 2:06 pm

No buffering issues. I upgraded my wireless to 802.11g and mp3's play great coming off a wireless to a ximeta device.
I used to not be able to stream internet radio effectively but now its OK. The install went very well - just had to manually enter in the ip of my server in the .ini file.

One issue with the 2.9 code is my pc locks up periodically if other media is occurring - ie my daughter is playing on disney.com.

I set the townky service to manual to see if its actually causing the lockups.

Under 2.9 I get video lock up when I try to fast forward

Using Twonkyvision 2.9 with a DSM-320 and the video plays fine but when I try to fast forward the video completely freezes.

Those with issues should toggle the RTP setting to see if it makes any improvement.

MP101 works better on 2.9 w/ RTP off

Thanks wideasleep. Setting Netgearrtp to "0" in the web configuration allowed my MP101 to start playing songs again after upgrading to TwonkyVision 2.9.
