New Router, Twonky's gone

Post by skalinow » Tue Nov 11, 2014 7:28 pm

Hello,

I just installed a new wireless router and now Twonky will not show up on my LAN connected blu-ray player or my wireless connected laptop.

The blu-ray player shows other things on the network like share drives and even other DLNA servers. But no Twonky. When I try to use the ip address link in Chrome on a laptop it doesn't find Twonky either. Anyone know what the issue could be? Something in the router config?

Twonky works fine on the PC it's installed on.

Thanks for reading

Old one was a Netgear R6300 Smart Wifi Router. Didn't do any special setup, just did the usual setup wizard and it was fine.

New one's a ASUS (RT-AC68U) Wireless-AC1900 Dual-Band Gigabit Router. Did the simple setup steps and everything else in my network seems ok. Computers see each other, different DLNA servers work, etc.

I was first going to suggest taking a look at IGMP Proxy and disabling it on the router

But after re-reading your OP
I going to assume that twonky is running on your laptop?
and that your laptop is connected wirelessly to your router?
and that your laptop is running windows 7?

you noted that you couldn't get to twonky web interface by IP
I'll bet that since your computer is now on a new router,
and looking under "Network and Sharing Center" might show it as being on an unidentified network?
Or it could be thinking your on public network?

Twonky is installed on a LAN connected windows 8.1 PC.

You got me in the right direction asking about the public network thing. I clicked on Network and turned on Allow discovery. Then in Media Steaming Options I had to Allow Access to devices.

All is working now, thanks for the help!

your welcome, glad to hear its now working
the network discovery sharing etc in windows 8/8.1 isnt as easy to invoke as it is in win 7
but the implications are the same behavior in both 7 and 8/8.1
