TMS 7.2.8 PNG Album Artwork

I just upgraded from 7.1 that was included with my Buffalo NAS to 7.2.8 hoping that the latest version would support embedded PNG album artwork but it seems that it doesn't. Can anyone else confirm this?

Album artwork in JPEG format displays just fine… I was hoping not to have to convert all of my artwork by writing a script with Atomic Parsley to extract and replace the PNG formatted artwork with JPEG.

Im don't think most dlna clients, if any at all, would recognize the png format

Transcoding to smaller JPG's happens anyways when Twonky generates the cache. I would have expected the PNG -> Small JPG to happen as well.

If there was no transcoding for the artwork, I would expect the web client be able to display the PNG artwork.

I have installed ffmpeg and added the ffmpeg.location file per your instructions in the other thread trying to get ALAC to work. I have not seen any artwork show except for video and audio files that have jpeg artwork natively in the files.

take a look at my reply to the other thread
it might be a path issue
Its been a while since I have had to get the optware install of ffmpeg working with twonky
but I know that it can be done, I just need to remember the specifics to get twonky to see it/execute it

also, you will need to clear the twonky cache

Code: Select all

check to see if ffmpeg is in /opt/bin or if it is /opt/bin/ffmpeg
