iPhone photo portrait orientation always wrong

Post by bairdac » Wed Sep 09, 2015 5:11 pm

Hoping for some help on an issue I've always had and which never seems to be rectified in any of the updates even though release notes suggest that it should be. All of my portrait orientated photos taken by any IOS device (e.g. iPhone 5S) are displayed by Twonky in landscape (so 90 degrees out) in both thumbnail or full view. The problem exists when either viewing Twonky via a Windows web browser (IE11) or via a PS3. However, when viewing the source photo files in Windows Explorer or a Windows app (e.g. Photo Gallery) and the photos are displayed with their correct orientation - so I assume the EXIF data is OK. Simply, how can I fix this? Restarting and rescanning databases does nothing. Really hoping for a solution!!

TwonkyMedia version - 8.1.1
Server hardware - QNAP TS-269PRO
Operating System - LINUX with 4.1.4 firmware build 20150820
If you are running as a system service (Windows only)
Client(s) and their software version - Win 8.1 & PS3
Type(s) of media you are having problems with: jpg photos
How many files you have in your database - 17,600
Network type (Wired/Wireless) - wired
Other items on your network (Router make/model for example) - Cisco EA4500

Hi, Flipping a photo is not very convenient. The orientation of the photo is very important. More importantly, it has high quality photos. When there is a desire to enlarge the photo. https://imageupscaler.com/ Enlarge photo size and improve quality. Increase the number of pixels and improve detail.

I'm getting ready to buy a new computer and just want to confirm that the windows 10 issues discussed here http://forum.bsplayer.com/answered-solv ... issue.html is actually resolved. It looks like I just need to cancel the always on top mode, yes?

On another note, any ideas who has the best deals on computers? I'm a big B&H fan but after doing a little exploring online and reading several articles about good photo video places (https://www.photographytalk.com/alterna ... -b-h-photo) I'm second guessing whether I should go with B&H or jump to something like Adorama. Anyways, I'd appreciate your insights. Thanks.
