M3U files with Internet-radio stations are skipped?

Post by andrehj » Mon Nov 09, 2015 9:13 pm

I'm running Twonky Server 8.1.1 on my QNAP TS 119P-II NAS.
I've been using Twonky successfully for years, but now I also want to use it for internet radio stations.

However, any m3u file I make with addresses of radio stations are somehow skipped. They do not show up on the web interface or on my DLNA clients.
Normal playlists (m3u files with lists of MP3 files) work fine and show up under "Playlists", both on the web interface and on my DLNA clients.

I've placed the M3U files on a few locations in my music tree (which is scanned by Twonky and has content type "music").

These are the M3U files I've tried:

Code: Select all

#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:-1,Chillout MP3
http://www.antenne.de/webradio/channels/chillout.m3u

Code: Select all

#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:-1,Chillout AAC
http://www.antenne.de/webradio/channels/chillout.aac.pls
And one with two stations:

Code: Select all

#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:-1,Chillout MP3
http://www.antenne.de/webradio/channels/chillout.m3u
#EXTINF:-1,Studio Brussel
http://www.listenlive.eu/vrtstubru-high.m3u
But none of them show up in Twonky  . What am I doing wrong?

Hi!

We have resolved a problem for URLs in playlists (what Internet Radio somehow is) in after the release of Twonky 8.2. Please contact our support team (support (at) twonky.com) if you want to get access to a beta version including a potential fix.

Hi Twonky-Rene,
Thanks for the fix. But I will wait for QNAP to update the QPKG Twonky to version 8.2.

So, finally QNAP updated their Twonky version (8.2.1) with the relevant fix, so now I'm finally able to use internet radio with Twonky.
However, there is a new problem:
When I want to select the internet radio station on my Radio, not the Station name is shown, but the http://... address, which is not very practical, especially since the radio only has a small display, with limited characters.

When using Minimserver everything works fine.

This is the file I'm using:

Code: Select all

#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:-1,Studio Brussel
http://www.listenlive.eu/vrtstubru-high.m3u
#EXTINF:-1,Antenne Bayern
http://www.antenne.de/webradio/antenne.aac.pls
In Twonky this gives me the choice between:
- http://www.listenlive.eu/vrtstubru-high.m3u and
- http://www.antenne.de/webradio/antenne.aac.pls

while in Minimserver the choice is:
- Studio Brussel or
- Antenne Bayern

Why doesn't Twonky use the much more practical and user friendly station names from the m3u file?

I am discovering the same problem:

Version: Twonky Server 8.5.1
Server: linux, ubuntu server

m3u playlists with internet radio stations are skipped.

Any ideas?
