Several newbie questions regarding Twonky/Linux & VLC/Vi

Hi all,
I just installed Twonky on my debian box and streaming the proper formats to my ps3 works just fine. But now I come across some problems using my VLC on Vista to get video streams from Twonky.
When I web-browse the list of videos in firefox and click on one to view it would download the whole file prior to playing without streaming at all. How can I stream my videos to VLC using a web browser (or does VLC offer a media server browser itself)?
Same (download instead of streaming) happens when I try to listen to music using VLC. Even Internet-Radio is downloaded (and never finished as the streamed data would never end) instead of being streamed.
Is this a common problem, did I choose the wrong way to access my media files or isn't it just possible to access media files on a Twonky server on Vista with VLC?
Regards,
Andreas
