After placing a few posts about my problems with TwonkyMedia and not getting any responses, I decided to send an e-mail to support using the the link provided in the "Official Support" link... to say I am disappointed with the outcome is an understatement.
I am having problems with FLAC tags being read properly and with FLAC transcoding and my D-Link DSM-510. I outlined these issues with support and basically was told that "No fix is available. We can only offer a refund". ???!! I bought the product over a year ago... that's not a viable option!
This is not the response I was expecting!!! Does Packetvision even support further development of TwonkyMedia anymore? I would have expected at least an interest in fact gathering to get a better understanding of the issue.
I would be happy to PM a Twonky support person with the details of my issue... if they are interested!!!
Support (Is that what you call it)???

I just finished converting my collection to FLAC and never really noticed an issue with the FLAC tags until now... I also just recently acquired two devices that I was testing FLAC playback with (A D-Link DSM-510 and a Denon AVR-3808 receiver).
I think it is irrelevant as to the timing of my discovery of an issue; rather that there seemed to be a lack of interest in helping me solve my problem by the official support folks; all I seemed to get was an offer of a "refund"... if that is what I wanted I would have asked for that!!!
If I am doing something wrong, let me know; if I need to provide more information, let me know, just don't blow me off by offering me a refund!!!
In any case, I have 2 issues; I cannot get Twonky to transcode FLAC files to .wav format when using the DSM-510... I can confirm that transcoding is setup and works with Twonky as it transcodes the FLAC files if I play them with WMP 11 (it is a UPnP client and can see Twonky that way).
The other issue I am having with FLAC is that Twonky does not seem to be able to reliably read FLAC tags; I have tagged all of my FLAC files with Artist/Album/Song title information, yet Twonky does not appear to be reading the tags as very few of my tracks are cataloged by Album, Artist, etc. All of my FLAC files were tagged the exact same way using the same apps (Exact Audio Copy and Winamp).
As an additional test, I tried scanning my collection with another well-known UPnP server and it was able to read the FLAC tags and catalog my collection; all I am looking for from Twonky is for it to do the same.

Got FLAC-WAV working
thegrimreaper,
I also had the same issue with DSM-510 and Twonky v4.4. To solve it, you need to edit the "clients.db" in the resources sub-directory of your twonky installation. First find the entry for DSM-510 in the clients.db file. Then change the following ( I don't remember the exact change as I am work right now).
to
To be safe, I also modified the flac entries for other clients.
This was suggested by Christian in some other thread and it worked for me. BTW, I am running firmware v1.06 in the 510.
Hope this helps.
