Ok, I've searched all over, I'm sure this is the dumbest question possible, but how do you access the twonky server? I'm running it on winxp, it has files, etc all showing up, but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to connect to it with the local media player install even.

Hi try connecting to the server via a web browser. Put in the name of the machine that is running the server and look on port 9000 i.e. http://mypeecee:9000. That should connect you to the server configuration pages. A uPnP device should find the server automatically.

Thanks, is there a client I can use for windows? When I double click on it from my network places it just opens the config page.

I am trying to use Nero with limited success ( http://www.twonkyforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=4158 ). I suggest having a look at the Wikipedia article on upnp - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Upnp and Google.

Foster-What are you trying to do? You can use Twonky's mediabrowser to play directly on the pc.

I think I'm starting to get a feel for what it's all about. So would a sophisticated browser have features to manage what comes out of the upnp server within the confines of a local library or that kind of thing?

Can you lay in additional transcoding functionality to do things like conversion to unsupported renderers or from one codec to another?

Is it possible to setup other streams outside of the listed radio stations?

WideAsleep: to answer your question, I'm trying out all this to see if we can use it as a way to create a central distribution point for all these different community devices at our site (360, PS3, Vista Machines, Nokia 770s, Pocket PCs, etc ) and be able to extend feeds offsite through a vpn or output to DVD/USB Media for disconnected use.
