Twonky - How to bring through Windows-Firewall ?

Post by halsband » Sat Nov 10, 2007 1:24 pm

Titel changed because Firewall is the indicated Problem ... Dirk
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi ! Iwould like to use Twonky as Media-Server. So I just installed Twonky 4.4.1 Trial witout any problems.
WinXp - full updates, Firewall exceptions set; UPnP is on, Twonky is running.
But the server does not appear on my client (Hifidelio via WLAN).
All other Net-Functionalities of the Client via WLAN are OK (Internet-Radio, File-Transfer etc.)
AND: Another UnPn-Server (TVersity) appears at once in my client when started. So why not Twonky. What´s wrong ?
Thanks
Dirk

That client isn't supported by Twonky.

No thats not the reason. The Hifidelio accept any UPnP-Server (and has it´s own Twonky on board for serving ;-) .
installed now Twonky on a WLAN-Laptop and the client "sees" it at once. So:
Laptop-WLAN-Router-WLAN-Client = OK
PC-LAN-Router-WLAN-Client = Not OK
Its a bit embarrassing, but it seems to be (again) the Windows-Firewall. (I swear, i tried to disable the FW at the beginning several times). But now I changed some Entries in the router-settings and disable the Win-FW again.
Status now: Twonky is seen by system (and Hifidelio) if Win-Firewall is disabled.
But: Even if I set manual exceptions for all necessary ports (UDP 1030, 1900, 9080, TCP starting at 9000 until a free port is found) there is no Twonky seen by an active Firewall. Do I forget an entry ?
