Stream without downloading first

Post by rick78 » Sun Nov 25, 2007 5:35 am

Hi,

I am new to TwonkyVision. This looks very cool so far. I am just testing locally on one XP and I wonder if someone could explain how to setup streaming, so that it does not download the entire video file before it starts playing.
I have tried both IE and Firefox, and when I click on a link in the video folder, it starts downloading, and starts playing in Mediaplayer, or VLC if configred for that, when it completes.

Thanks,
Rick

More info: If I place the full link into VLC in the http network stream, it will actually stream. So I think the TwonkyVision is actually streaming correctly.
So I guess my question is more a Windows question.
How to get a video stream to pop up and play without going to the temporary folder.

Thanks,
Rick

I hate to keep bringing this up, but can anyone tell me why I cannot stream videos? My browsers always attempt to download. If I cant get this fixed, it is almost useless as a media streamer.

Hi folks,

imho this is a windows issue. I have two XP clients with different behaviour. First one streams MP3 correctley, the second one downloads data before playing the song. Internet radio is impossible to play on this node. I still couldn't find the difference between these machines :-(
In my case Twonky isn't part of the problem!

You are probably right that it is a windows problem, but maybe Twonky can add a webbased player in the interface.

Hi folks,

seems to be a browser issue, too. IE works fine, firefox is broken. What browser do you use?
