Serving files located on a networked drive

Post by mjpalm21 » Fri Nov 30, 2007 11:27 pm

I have a Maxtor Shared Storage II NAS drive that I store all my media files on. I would like to access these files from a Xbox 360. The Maxtor NAS drive is supposed to have a built in media server but the built in server does not work with the Xbox 360.

I am trying to use Twonky Media server to get around this problem. I installed Twonky Media on a PC server and then went into the Sharing setup in the Twonky Media Server setup page. I noticed that Twonky does not support sharing networked locations directly so I mapped a drive in windows over to the media files on the Maxtor NAS.

Twonly does not seem to want to see the files on the networked/mapped drives. Is there any way around this?

If I remember correctly, there is a version of Twonky that will run directly on the Maxstor box.

That would be a far more elegant solution but you might have to do some research on the forum on the version required and installation procedure.

Sorry I can't help there.
