Playing MP4 video files on XBOX 360

Just purchased this product and so far so good - pretty impressed with it - but I have one problem.

I am streaming to an XBOX360 with the latest dashboard on the 360, but TWONKY will not show me any of my MP4 video files - all other formats show up in the folder views, but the MP4's are absent.

I renamed a few to .MOV and then they play fine - but I do not want to have to rename files all of the time.

How can I get Twonky to see my MP4 files!

Any help is appreciated!

Andy

Mp4 files can contain Video, Music, or text.. Twonky has no idea what format they are, so you have to rename the file extension for Twonky to be able to play it.. I would hope that they're working on a fix.

To get .mp4 show on Xbox 360,
(I have Twonky 4.4.5-trial running on Dlink DNS-323)
do these:

Edit \mnt\HD_a2\twonky\resources\clients.db with text editor
Search for xbox 360 section (as below)

ID:041
NA:XBOX 360
HH:Xbox
DD:Xbox
HP:chunked
DX:WMC
XM:WMCIDS
XM:MINIMALMP3URL
XM:DLNANO
DB:FIX
MT:aif,aiff audio/aiff
MT:avi,divx video/avi
MT:flac audio/flac
MT:lpcm,pcm audio/lpcm
MT:m4a,mp4.a,3gp.a,m4b audio/mp4
MT:mp1,mp2 audio/mpeg
MT:ts video/mpeg
MT:wav audio/wav

ADD a new line
MT:mp4 video/mp4
before the line -> MT:m4a,mp4.a,3gp.a,m4b audio/mp4

and become

ID:041
NA:XBOX 360
HH:Xbox
DD:Xbox
HP:chunked
DX:WMC
XM:WMCIDS
XM:MINIMALMP3URL
XM:DLNANO
DB:FIX
MT:aif,aiff audio/aiff
MT:avi,divx video/avi
MT:flac audio/flac
MT:lpcm,pcm audio/lpcm
MT:mp4 video/mp4
MT:m4a,mp4.a,3gp.a,m4b audio/mp4
MT:mp1,mp2 audio/mpeg
MT:ts video/mpeg
MT:wav audio/wav

Save it, restart your Twonky server and you should see MP4 files on your XBOX 360 Video folder.

This is interesting. Anyone know if this will work with .mpg files as well? For some reason I cant play .mpg video files on my xbox 360. I had the issue with m4v and this worked. Is there documentation somewhere that explains the format of the clients.db file?
