I got the license together with a sagem my dual 700 (in germany sold as medion)

Hi Miguel,

got the same problem now - all of a sudden.

I am running TM v 4.4.4RC1 on a Thecus N5200B Pro Server (linux plugin v 2.00.08).

Up to now, everything worked fine. I didn't change the system, but now it doesn't work saying "test license no longer valid, buy regular license" which is wrong since i bought and entered a license key...

any solution to the question?

which ini-file did you delete?

I'm having the same problem. I sent an email to support and they replied saying to shut down the other instance!!!! Useless.

I've tried various combinations of uninstalling and reinstalling but to no avail.

I finally gave it up as a bad job and installed Mediatomb instead. Haven't looked back since. Much nicer product with less bugs, but it does lack the flash player support which I found to be quite useful in Twonky.

Currently waiting to hear from Twonky about getting a refund but they've gone strangely quiet.

by the way: which other instance?
It's running only on this singular NAS server...

and: what do I have to do in order to re-install it on my linux server - simply delete the config.ini in the module/twonkymedia/twonky directory?

Exactly. I'm only running one instance on one NAS (Maxtor Shared Storage II)

I used the installer on this page to install/uninstall/reinstall twonky and couldn't get it to work.

My only advise is to install Mediatomb. It's a bit of a pain to set up, but once set up it works flawlessly streaming my music and video from my NAS to my PS3.

How can you be sure somone has not compromised your system and taken your licence key? It happens...

And how can you be sure it isn't a bug?

I have started getting the same error as well. Seems like a bug is the likely explanation.

Highlight this to Twonky support. I've tried, but I haven't heard back from them in a couple of weeks. You may have better luck.

@Moderators. Can you use your influence to send this problem to Twonky, as it is looking like it's becoming a problem for quite a few people here. This isn't the only thread on the topic either. Searching the forum brings up 4 or 5 other separate threads with the same problem.

As an aside, I found it really difficult to write this post without using swear words and remain diplomatic. It's not that I'm angry that there is a bug in the program, but with the complete lack of support that I expect as a license payer.

I sent them an email last night. No response [yet]. If this does not get resolved I will dispute the cc charge for the license fee.

I have the same problem, had to delete the ini file and am now in the 30 days trial period. If I enter my license key - shuts me out saying the key is used elsewhere - which it is not.

Are Twonky going to put their hands up, admit that a bug and correct?

Did get a reply from Twonky. They reset my license and all appears to be working fine. At lease for now.

In that case I wonder whether it's not just best to deny TwonkyMedia Internet access (provided you're just streaming on your LAN; and assuming they check the key online).
Gorgeous, delicious, deculture!

if you look through the forums or do deny access you should be able to find the url of the server used for licensing i saw it here ages ago. If you have a router with the ability add it to the block list should stop it. remember it was something like server2.xxxx.de something like that. Or you could always just as said deny it access or watch what url twonky attempts to access on bootup.

good to see I'm not alone.
in the meantime I've received the 3rd key from twonky support. I'd be very surprised if tha last one will make it very long
anyway, twonky support was at least helpful so far.
I do not believe that my system is compromised. they are supposing that the web interface was accessed via the internet which I highly doubt
because port 9000 is not allowed.
I'd suppose that there is a problem with their registration server.
maybe blocking their registration server is the solution ??

In which Case, why are tonkymedia, not disabling the key and re-issuing a new one?

I have seen a web link with hack/keygen for twonky media server.. maybe these generated same key as those people who actually has bought licence and thus twonky server find two servers with same licence and denies the buyers licence ?

Sure enough, deleted the .ini file and blocked access to http://www.twonkymedia.com and my license key relives. Twonky are breaching contract by using my internet conneciton to talk back to their server - all without permisison. And Germany is quite strict on such maters. Twonky, behave yourselves, corrrect your EULA and put in a place a procees to correct for users whose keys are NOT being used elsewhere. My router shows the attemped accesses to the twonky site.
