Are subtitles supported in 4.4.5?

I have 4.4.5 installed on my NAS, and have D-link DSM-520 media player.
Subtitle has *.srt extension and is named as same as the avi file.
Still no subtitles on my tv

nope - no subtitles... It's something I've been wanting since day 1
