TwonkyMedia 4.4.6 Does Support MKV!!!

Post by braindead » Sun Aug 24, 2008 3:06 am

I just upgrade to 4.4.6 and all my MKV files are detected by Twonky after a re-scan. I tested my entire library of MKV (720/1080P w. profile high@4.1~5.1) files with Twonky and POPCORN HOUR and all stream flawlessly to my HDTV@1080P. Now I do not need a second media streamer (LLINK) for my MKV movies. Not sure why Twonky did not disclose MKV support (maybe still alpha/beta?). Don't care but lov'n it!!!

You can download 4.4.6 from link below:

Twonky posted nothing about MKV support. I updated because I have a PS3.

What's new in Version 4.4.6

* Fixed PS3 recognition that was broken for firmware >= 2.4

Super great news. I ordered also http://www.popcornhour.com/onlinestore, cause Dlink dsm-520 didnt handle this job. HD MKV client job, I mean.

I really can confirm:

4.4.4 no MKV support
4.4.9 MKV support added

So, I upgraded today to .9 version and voila - it finds all MKV containers. Earlier I had to foon Twonky by manually remaning MKV-s to AVI in order to index them.

I also bought Popcorn Hour A-110 and I LOVE it. Absolutely amother level compared to D-link DSM 520 what supposed to be HD player, but really isn't cause of missing 264 codex.
