I just setup the Twonky trial on my DNS-323 NAS and everything seemed to work fine. I can log into the configuration page. Music plays fine streamed to my xbox. When I try to play .avi files they dont work. It says...
"Unplayable Contect. Cant play this content because it may not be supported. For more info, go to www.xbox.com/support. Status Code: 69C00D36FB"
The same video file worked fine from TVersity on my PC to the Xbox. Am I doing something wrong or do AVI's not play on Twonky?
Any help would be appreciated.
Can't get video files to play on my Xbox 360
Re: Can't get video files to play on my Xbox 360
I uninstalled Twonky and installed 4.4.9 and it works now.

Re: Can't get video files to play on my Xbox 360
I am having the exact same problem with my upgrade to 5.0. 4.4.9 on my system for some reason was really flaky (sometimes it would connect, sometimes it wouldn't, always had to restart etc). 5.0 seemed to fix those flaky issues except this one issue with xvid files. I'm even having other weird issues of some h264 files playing and some don't. All this worked on the older 4.x versions.
Has there been a solution or any progress with this issue for 5.x (Linux)?

I also have the same issue with version 5 however the videos play fine with version 4.4.9 on the 360.
I have raised the issue with Twonky and they are currently looking into it.

I think i found the bug
if your xvid or mp4 file has any special char in it, you might get the error. I say might, because some still seem to work fine.
for example.
"my.video.xvid.avi" won't work, but if you if you rename it to
"my video xvid.avi" (removing all the periods except for the ext.)it plays without any problem
I have to many videos on my nas to rename, so it looks like I wont be upgrading. I'm glad I tried the new version before buying it!

I've confirmed this, too. Some of the special characters in the file names are giving problems, probably have to do with detecting the righ file extension? Once the characters are out, the files itself are playing ok.
Any news on a fix or how to get a version that does work?

This issue should be fixed with version 5.0.47 of Twonky Media Server http://www.twonkyforum.com/unsupported/5.0.46/
