"Album Artist" not returned with AAC files

Apologies if this is answered elsewhere, however when I search the forums for "Album Artist" (using the quotes around the two words) the search engine comes back with hits for Album and Artist - as though I had typed +Album +Artist! Very annoying.
I'm using 4.4.6 of Twonky on a Synology DS-407 and browsing from a PS3 at fw 2.52.
I have lots of compilation albums in my collection, so the ability to organise by Album Artist is very important. However, only the mp3 files in my collection show up when I browse by Album Artist. I've ripped nearly everything else to 320kpbs AAC, and none of those tracks are visible.
Is this a known bug? If so is it fixed in 4.4.9?
