Means to test server streaming performance?

Post by cliffa » Fri Dec 19, 2008 5:37 pm

Hi, is there any way to test the maximum throughput that my UPnP server is able to deliver? I'm looking for a client that can connect to the server and pull down a file at the fastest rate that the server is able to deliver, it doesn't need to render the content, just report that it is receiving the stream at the rate requested. I'm trying to determine where the perfomance bottle necks are in my system. Also I want to find out the effects on the UPnP streaming when performing other file server operations to my NAS. I'm seeing occasional glitching when streaming 720p x.264 video with a nonminal bit rate of 6-7Mbps and I'm not sure if the culprit is the client or server, the interconnection is wired GE.
