Twonky 5.0 - Custom navigation

Post by KoMa666 » Fri Dec 19, 2008 8:29 pm

Hello,

I tested Twonky Server 5, but where is the custom navigation - feature?

As I can see, the number of features is much much less than in V 4.4.9 ...

Will there be a release for V 4.4.9 which reads playlists?

Hi KoMa666!

It just plain does not existanymore.

It has been omitted from TMS 5.0 for reasons only known to PacketVideo.

I believe it was removed as part of the back to basics appoach. It was never very well documented how to use it, and it use to generate loads of questions from users. TMM only allows fixed navigation structures.
Please note: Moderators here are voluntary and do not work for PacketVideo or Twonky, please do not attack us. Any posts are personal opinion, and may not be those of PV/Twonky.

Hi

If you look elsewhere, it has been proposed that PV will release a 'fix' which technically able people can use to bring it back. Also, the new Product Manager (Rick) has indicated that he will ask if it's possible to fully reintroduce it into TMS5 (there have been a lot of people asking for it). We all await with interest but it looks like we'll need to retain TM449 until it has been fixed (and I've probably a longer wait for TMS5 to be released in a Linux-sparc version suitable for my ReadyNAS).
