TwonkyMedia - LinnGUI can not add tracks to Current Playlist

Post by cheadrick » Sun Mar 29, 2009 7:03 pm

My setup
TwonkyMedia 4.4.9
NAS
Model: ReadyNAS NV+ [X-RAID]
Serial: 000da201ec4b
Firmware: RAIDiator 4.1.4 [1.00a042]
Memory: 256 MB [2.5-3-3-7]
Media Player
Linn Akurate DS software version 1.1-0.9 (Bute)
Media Player application
LinnGUI software version 1.4-0.1 (Bute)

My database contains over 18,000 flac music tracks, but I do not know the exact number.
I am using my computer wireless.
I have the ReadyNAS running TwonkyMedia and the Linn Akurate DS on a wired 1000Mbit network using a LinkSys switch.

Now my problem:

LinnGUI will not add tracks to Current Playlist

What I have finally done that seems to have fixed the problem:

Note the IP address and MAC address of the computer that is having the problem.
Turn off the computer that is having the problem.

Use a second computer to perform the next steps.
By the way, I added LinnGUI to the second computer and it could add and manipulate tracks as expected.

Use the second computer to connect to TwonkyMedia.
Connect to the TwonkyMedia web page (http://serverIPaddress:8100/config) from a web browser.
Click Clients/Security under Basic Setup.
Mark the entry for the problem computer in the Clients/Security panel with '-/-' from the middle drop down box.
You can identify the problem computer from the previously noted IP address and MAC address.
This will cause the entry to be deleted when you perform the next step.
Click Save Changes.
The entry for the problem computer should not be displayed in the list of Media Receivers.

Restart the TwonkyMedia server from the second computer.
Turn off the second computer.

Wait 30 minutes, in my case due to the size of the media library which is rescanned on restart.

Turn on the problem computer.
I then started LinnGUI and I could add 20 individual tracks.
The tracks play and I have control using the buttons under the LinnGUI Current Playlist panel.

In Clients/Security on the TwonkyMedia server the computer running LinnGUI is listed as a TwonkyPlayer.
It does not actually play the tracks, justs forwards the tracks to the ADS.

Questions:

Is the computer adding the tracks considered a player?

Can anyone explain why this happens and how to stop it from happening again?
