Need help with Media Server install on Linkstation live

Post by t-roth » Sun Apr 12, 2009 11:23 pm

I'm quite a noob at this stuff, but I managed to get Media Server 4.4.11 installed using NASSetup (or so i think).
My problem is that the link listed at the bottom of the NASSetup doesn't work

http://192.168.0.3:9000/configpage/index.html <--doesn't work
and if I log into the regular Linkstation interface I don't see anything for Twonky.
I do see the twonky folder on the drive.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I used the NASSetup script also but it did NOT enable auto start of Twonky for me. I have to log into the Linkstation via telnet and turn it on manually.

Follow these steps for telnet access:

Getting Console (Telnet) Access with acp_commander

* Read the http://downloads.nas-central.org/TOOLS/ ... DER/README Make sure you understand what the acp_commander is for & how you can use it.

* Download http://downloads.nas-central.org/TOOLS/ ... mander.jar to somewhere you will remember.
* Get console access, dos, terminal, shell it doesn't really matter as long as you can execute the java command.
* cd to the directory where you saved acp_commander.jar
* Disable your firewall temporarily. (If applicable)

Enter the following (Replacing <IP ADDRESS> with the IP Address of your Linkstation)

Code: Select all

java -jar acp_commander.jar -t <IP ADDRESS> -o
You should see something along the lines of:

Code: Select all

Using random connID VALUE = FB6A7FCF57E6
Using target: 192.168.1.11/192.168.1.11 (your IP address)
 ** NO message **
 ** NO message **
 Password changed.
or

Code: Select all

java -jar acp_commander.jar -t <IP ADDRESS> -o -addons
This will install the addons package now.

This may not happen straight away. However I have only ever had to do it a maximum of twice.

Your Linkstation should now have the telnet daemon enabled. User "root" will have a null (Blank) root password, until you change it. The telnet daemon will be available until you reboot your Linkstation.

* Enable your firewall. (If applicable)

Now you can login to your Linkstation with telnet.
Connect with Telnet

Enter the following (Replacing <IP ADDRESS> with the IP Address of your Linkstation)

Code: Select all

telnet <IP ADDRESS>
and login with "root" No password should be asked.

Once you have telnet access. Start Twonky.

Code: Select all

/etc/init.d/twonky start
You should now be able to access the configuration page vie your web browser.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the help.

I get this output when i run the command to start twonky (see pic). It seems to endlessly output the "Log_System" line.
I can view the NAS using my xbox so the media server must of started, but I still can't get to the configuration.

http://<ipaddress>:9000/configpage/index.html <--- is this correct?

Try logging in using this http://<NAS-IP>:9000/config. This is the link that I use. I too was never able to reach the ...configpage/index url.
Let me know if I can help any further but I warn you I am also an extreme NOOB with this.

Buffalo LinkStation Live Review: Slower than Pro, but media it does show ... Live contains a DLNA-certified streaming media server and USB print server. ... which makes for a much neater installation than units that use
