Content Locations Not Saving?

Hi all,

I'm hoping I can get some help with a weird issue with TMS 5.0.68...I'm evaluating the trial version, but keep having issues with TMS remembering my Content Locations.

I'm storing files on a network mapped drive (Apple Time Capsule) and running the TMS program on a local Vista PC to share to my DNLA Samsung TV. I can successfully enter in my Video location (eg: \\Server Name\\Video Folder\) and scan the directory to refresh the database.

However, for some reason TMS erases the Content Folder location of Network Drives and all it has is a "\" where the location should be. I am not sure whether this happens only when I restart the PC (is seems sort of random), but it is certainly happening on a regular basis every day or so....

I installed the program with the default installation settings, and nothing I try seems to work....if anyone could help with this, I would be greatly appreciative!

Thanks in advance,
Dane

Have you tried mapping your network shares to drive letters on the PC and then using the drive letter paths in Twonky?

Hi PB - thanks for your reply...Unfortunately, I've only been able to get the server to recognise my \\192.168.1.2\Time Capsule\etc... address for the server. I think the Apple Time Machine does a weird thing with mapping drives - it uses a program to map the drive (even though it appears as a Z:\ in Windows Explorer, but the Twonky Media Manager 'Browse' window doesn't see the mapped network drive)...

Do you think this may be the problem, or is there something else I could try?

Many thanks!
Dane.

From the TMS config web page enter:

Code: Select all

http://<your-ip>:9000/rpc/get_option?contentbase
This will tell you the base folder for your content. If the Z: is outside this base folder then it won't be seen when you try to browse to it. You'll need to open up your base folder to a higher level so you can then see your Z: below it.

For example, my contentbase (on a NAS) is the /mnt folder so I can see any folders below /mnt but not others above it such as / or /tmp.

I haven't actually got a PC version of TMS running so I can't try out this for myself.

Hi PB,

Thanks for your reply. I logged into the TMS config page and went to the address you mentioned, but I get a "PROPERTY NOT FOUND!" error webpage....

The funny thing is, if I enter in the full address into the sharing path, rescan the folders, I can see the files and subfolders underneath. This path just doesn't seem to 'stick' once I reboot the machine!

Hmm, it's very frustrating indeed. I want to purchase this product because it's exactly what I'm after, however if I can't fix this problem then I'm going to be in trouble...

Thanks so much for your help.
Dane.
