updated playlist show old content

i am using twonky 4.4.17 on my QNAP Turbo NAS 409.
i created a playlist and put it as random.m3u in my music folder. after rescan the playlist apears under "Playlists". when i now change the contents of the playlist (add or delete tracks or even put a complete new list in it) the changes doesn't show up.
my question: are the content of the playlist is only read with a rescan? when will townky see an update of a playlist? i did a restart of twonky, but the changes doen't show up.
what i want to achive is a kind of random playlist. i have a little script, that reads all my tracs in the music folder and then outputs a certain number of tracks in a random order. now the next time i do an update with that script, create a new list (same playlist name) and have a new random selection of my music library.
do i have to do a rescan or is there any other "trick" to let twonky see the changes?
