I installed Twonky on my WHS last night and it pegged the CPU while it was scanning. Took just over an hour to index 60,000 photos, 2000 videos (including DVD rips) and 20,000 audio files.
Do you have a *lot* of media?

I have quite a bit of media. It also pegs my cpu at 100%. The app needs to be more cpu friendly.

I also have the same issue - the twonkymediaserver.exe has the CPU pegged on my EX490. Does anyone have any information. Should it really take days to index content? And even if it takes that long - why does twonky need to consume so much CPU the whole time? Is there a way to throttle this process?

Horrible, Horrible, Horrible. The same here. brand new HP EX490 totally locked up for days on end when I migrate all my audio on there. Completely renders the box unusable. It is a stupendous blunder this has not showed up during testing. You do test don't you. This makes me want to get rid of Twonky on my databox. Fix this you morons!

Hello,
I've just recently purchased the EX490 MediaSmart Server and also suffer from TwonkyMediaServer.exe occupying 99% CPU. Has anybody got a fix for this?
I've tried calling HP in the UK but after holding on the line for an hour @5p per minute I gave up!
Any suggestions very welcome.
thanks
Brian

Hi,
have you enabled "video transcoding" on the configuration page?
On my Acer Homeserver the checkboxes are greyed out.
It would be nice if you can check this on your system.

I've left this disabled since I'm only working with music files at present. I've disabled the media collector and have about 700 mp3 files on the server which isn't very much.

FYI - I managed to get through to HP support this morning and they informed me this is a known issue specifc to the HP MediaSmart servers - they have an update coming out in February which will fix the problem. They could not be more specifc on the date in February. If you have HP automatic updates enabled, it will automatrically be applied when the fix is released.
Hope this helps anybody else with a similar issue.
