Playing a DVD with TMS 5.1

HI,.
i have version 5.1 on my Win7 MediaCenter PC and i wonder how to achieve following.
I have a DVD drive and i want to be able to play the DVD when i sinsert it on my PC.
Checking the logs i can see TMS is trying to create a file on the DVD drive which fails. Therefore it is not scanned.
Is the "removable storage function" not valid for dvd drives ?
