Twonky Media Server stopped working with WMP11

Hi all,

I had Twonky Media Server 4 running on a Linkstation (Power PC) for ages without issue using WMP11 on Vista as my Client. I have to confess that I stopped using it for a while and have only recently went back to it.

The problem is that the Media Server doesn't appear to be detected by Vista (where it used to show up under Network) or by WMP11 (where it used to show up under Music).

What's strange is when I open the Network in Vista Twonky flashes up for a second then disappears again. I have the Mac Address of my receiver set up in the Server and set the type to Windows Media Player, I also tried the Generic option.

I checked my windows firewall and WMP is cnfigured as an exception and I have port 9000 also configured as an exception.

The server itself o the linkstation appears to be running fine also.

There have been quite a few windows updates since last I used it but does anyone have any idea what might be wrong?

Many thanks in advance!

Have you tried 5.1.1 It's certified by Microsoft to work with Win7 and WMP12.

Thanks for the reply. I'll give that a shot and post the results.

I have the same problem with my Roku Soundbridges. My update also came via the latest firmware update for my QNAP TS-639 Pro NAS.

Twonky can see the Soundbridges and the Soundbridges can see Twonky, but it always errors out.

This just started happening after the update to 5.1. All of my servers are checked to have access as they did before the upgrade.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
