Roku Sondbridge Cannot Detect TMS After Upgrade to 5.1

Post by lorenwalk » Sat Dec 05, 2009 2:54 pm

Please help.

I use TMS for music only. I've been running TMS successfully since I got my Western Digital MyBook World Edition (1TB) NAS device a couple months ago. The WD NAS comes with TMS built in.

I recently updated the firmware on my NAS device. I am NOT a Linux power user. So, this upgrade was a routine maintenance operation performed using the NAS GUI admin utility.

I discovered, after the NAS firmware update, that TMS 5.1 was included also. At first, everything looked fine. Using the TMS PC Media Browser, I discovered that this version of TMS found many .m3u playlists that were previously hidden when I was running the 4.x version of TMS.

However, my Roku Soundbridge M1001 has NOT been able to detect TMS since the firmware update and upgrade to TMS 5.1. I CAN see Roku Soundbridge listed among the Media Receivers in TMS, but Roku can't find TMS on the wireless network.

I've already tried:
-rebuilding the database
-rescaning content directories
-restarting TMS
-restarting Roku Soundbridge
-updating Roku firmware

None of these actions had any effect. Roku Soundbridge still cannot detect TMS.

Please tell me how to fix this problem.
Music serving is the only thing I use TMS for. Without this functionality it is useless to me.

I've attached a couple of screenshots below to help you diagnose the problem.

MANY THANKS!

As long as the pictures you attached are showing how you have Twonky configured try the following.

You need to have either the ""Enable sharing automatically" checkbox ticked, or the individual checkbox next to the Roku ticked. At the moment you have nothing selected so the devices have been seen by Twonky but you have not given Twonky permission to serve media to them.

Samsung LE37B650T2WXXU; Liteon 5055GDL+ HDD/DVD Recorder; Playstation 3; Iomega Screenplay HD 500GB; Buffalo Linkstation Pro LS-320GL (running Twonky 6.0.30, SqueezeBox Server 7.6 and acting as a Print Server)

PeeBee is right, but 5.1 also has a bug that makes it somewhat invisible for Roku.
In other words:
TMS 5.1 sees the Roku but the Roku doesn't see tMS 5.1.

Solution: Install 5.1.1

Download 5.1.1 at http://www.twonkyforum.com/downloads/5.1.1/
Remove 5.1 completely!
Install 5.1.1
Done!

Thanks, but I have NO IDEA how to uninstall/install TMS on my Western Digital MyBook World Edition NAS. I upgraded to TMS 5.1 from 4.x by simply clicking "firmware update" in my NAS admin GUI. I know nothing about how to access the innards of this device.

If there's a simple "cookbook" way to upgrade to 5.1.1, I'd love to hear about it.

Otherwise I guess I'm out of luck. If my Roku Soundbridge (M1001) can't detect it, then TMS 5.1 is useless to me.
