TMS 5.1 (Auto-share removable media - doesn't work on MyBook

Hi

I have a WD MyBook World Edition 2 (with TMS 5.1).
It should support - Auto-share removable media.
I've added a 1T external USB HD.
The Mybook detects this device and it is accesible via ftp.

However, Twonky (with Auto-share removable media enabled) does not detect any media files on the drive.

The media files on the USB drive are 2-3 sub-directories down from the root but I would not expect that to be an issue.

I've tried a number of permutations of: restarting TMS, restarting MyBook, enabling/disabling Auto-share removable media option, adding/removing USB-HD.

I've now run of ideas so if any body has any suggestions or had the same issue, let me know.

Many thanks!!!
Herm :(

Hi,

for me the use of USB drives with TMS 5.1 really is a key-feature and I wonder why the question in this thread has not been answered yet?

In the current description of TMS 5.1 you can read:

"- Auto-share Removable Media Option – When a new removable media device (e.g. USB memory stick) is plugged in, the server will share all media files on the device automatically. When the device is unplugged, the files on it will automatically be removed from the server."

What exactly does this mean? Will I still have to provide the path information to USB drives to TMS via webinterface under content location?

Or is TMS 5.1 able to recognize i.e. attached USB devices to a NAS automatically?

Best regards

EDIT 1: I would appreciate an answer because I have to make a decision which media server I license! Thx

I am having the same problem.....I just purchased a MyBook World Edition and with the auto-share option checked, it still does not find any files on the attached hard-drive. I have tried resetting, adjusting the file structure and lots more.

Was there ever a solution for this?
