TMS 5.1.2: m4a genre tags?
Posted: Sun Jan 10, 2010 9:50 pm
Hi,
are there any known issues handling genre tags in m4a files?
I have a bunch of m4a files I copied over from iTunes (downloaded from iTunes Music Store as well as ripped from CDs) and Twonky shows the genre as 'Unknown' for most of them. All my MP3s show correct genre so the problem affects only m4a files.
Twonky seems to parse the problematic files fine since it doesn't complain about unknown tags.
20:53:33:522 LOG_SCAN:MP4: parsing mp4box: gnre size: 26 Bytes
AtomicParsley shows that the genre as
Atom "gnre" contains: Metal
Some files are recognised correctly and they seem to have a slightly different genre tag:
20:54:03:325 LOG_SCAN:MP4: parsing mp4box: ©gen size: 31 Bytes
AtomicParsley shows that the genre as
Atom "©gen" contains: Holiday
http://atomicparsley.sourceforge.net/mpeg-4files.html
"Genre comes on 2 atoms - standard genres are on gnre; custom genres are on ©gen; only 1 is permitted at a time."
