I just installed Windows Home Server (WHS) and tried a few different DLNA servers. Liked twonky the best. Formatted WHS to get rid of all the test programs/servers/etc I installed. Did a fresh install and now it won't play my mp3's. I can play the them fine in windows media center (so I know drivers are good). I know the directory is set correctly and the mp3s are good since they played the first time I installed WHS and twonky. I have tried both the twonky server for xp and for WHS and got the same results. Out of ideas of what I might be doing wrong. I also did another install and just make sure it was a fuke. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Is it that you can't see the MP3 files in Twonky, or that you select them and they don't play?

Twonky won't see them at all.

After you rebuild, did you remember to add the folder the MP3s are in to the Twonky configuration?

I have added the folder with the mp3s from the web config page. Videos and pictures show up. Just no audio.

Does that user have access to the MP3 files (ie, is it a permissions problem)?

Did you configure the MP3 folder (in Twonky) as an explicit file type?

I don't think permissions are a problem. The only account I have is an admin account and I can play the mp3's. What do you mean setting the mp3 folder as an explicit file type? If you mean, setting is to "Music Only", then yes.

Got it. I went back to check permissions. Except this time, I looked at folder permissions. The music sub-folder which contains the artist with my music was set to read only. I moved all my music from the sub folder to the music folder and they all appeared. Thanks for saying permissions. I checked each music file permission a hundred times, but never the folder permission.
