5.1.whatever for WHS...When is this app going to get love?

It feels like the devs have given up on this app. Community is shrinking, no innovation, no communication just flatline.

I really liked where this project was going but the devs don't seem to have enough time to churn out updates quick enough and there is no clear path of where this software is going or what will improve. If there is some life behind the scenes, there is absolutely no communication to the user base so we feel alienated and get the impression that the project is dying or that the devs don't care.

Many of the replies by moderators on here also feel like attacks and probably push some users out of wanting to post again. A good community brings in more users and that starts with the mods.

anyway just a quick rant, but i really want this product to do well. I'm a paid WHS user and i hope to see some signs of life return to TMS soon!

well, as a user of twonky 5.1.2 on a whs i have to agree that my system is listed under "beta/unsupported".
it is running ok, but i would like to see some more support (what about 5.1.3 for whs, or the announced 5.1.4?) or at least more feedback about the progress. If i would know of any problems causing delays, i would be more patient.

about wanted features... transcoding, streaming of relayed webradios, better support for specific clients (samsung tv with mkv)... these would be nice to have, not just for whs owners

well at least i'm not alone. As a WHS user i guess i feel even more alienated since we are the only ones without a downloadable 5.1.3 branch. Not sure why.

I'm with you on the MKV support. Right now i have to use a different streaming app to transcode my mkv's over to the xbox360 which kind of defeats the purpose. I long for a single solution.

better "cover" art support on the xbox360 would be awesome as well.

maybe we'll hear good news soon!?!?!

Rick, the TMM Product Manager, mentioned a few weeks ago that WHS was skipping 5.1.3 but would have a 5.1.4, whenever that gets released. Mind you he said that a few weeks ago here:

This is embarrassing. I don't know why it's taking so long. I just send another reminder e-mail. Sorry everyone.

@adhesiv, you are not alone. There are many these forums and other WHS, HP MSS forums that feel the same way. I was about to start a post about WHS being neglected and ask status of 5.1.4 as well.

@Rick, an update would be nice. If the final version of 5.1.4 is not ready, will the RCs be available for download. There are many advanced users here that might be able to lend a testing hand.

Just tried that 5.1.4 but it still shows as 5.1.2 on the server status page.

Actually you can ignore my post above - was trying to install the old version! 5.1.4 seems to have installed fine.

One thing though - earlier, I just doubled clicked on the .msi, just out of curiosity, and the media feeds appeared on my TV. I then uninstalled that and installed the add-in properly under the WHS console and now the feeds have completely disappeared, even though the checkboxes on the media feeds config are still checked.

well, it looks like i got lucky:
- 5.1.4 for whs is out (mentions mkv for samsung).
- transcoding: i installed the win version and realized: there are more files than under a whs install.
with a ffmpg.location file, i even got a selectable transcoding setting (did not try yet)
- webradio: well, i changed the navigation to advanced (was happy folder nav though) and shoutcast stations are listed ;)

so twonky is a fine pice of software, but the differences between a win and a whs install are irritating.
