Windows Media Clients (Software) supporting Twonky Server

Hello,

I thought this topic would have been widely discussed already, but I could not find an answer so far.

I am running Twonky Server on my NAS WD MyBookWorld, where I store my music library.
Twonky Server has indexed all my songs on the NAS, and I can play music via the built-in MediaBrowser.

But what I want to do is to access the music from my Notebook in my LAN, using a Media Player Client.
Especially I want to build playlists in a Media Player, accessing the Twonky Server library.

Unfortunately, all to me known Music Players do either not work as UPnP client / DLNA client, or they fail to access my full library.

1) Windows Media Player 12 (running on Windows 7): WMP finds the remote music libary (called "MyBookWorld") but has difficulties to access all music files. It only finds 10% of songs, those where song title starts with numbers or special characters

2) Winamp: No integrated UPnP support
3) MediaMonkey: No integrated UPnP support
4) XBMC: Access to MyBookWorld is working, but has some bugs (error message when trying to access Artist or Album), and also Playlist handling rather cumbersome. XBMC seems to be rather built to run on devices, not particularly good on Windows OS

My favourite would be Windows Media Player, but I don't have a clue how to read my entire Twonky Server library.
Has anybody a working solution, which player supports Twonky Server, and is well designed and working well?

Thanks!

If you haven't yet tried running TwonkyMedia manager as a client, you might want to do that. You can download it here:

Thanks for your ideas so far!
A nice list of players can also be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UPnP_AV_Me ... olPoint.29

What really annoys me is that I cannot get Windows Media Player 12 to access my Twonky library via UPnP
WMP12 finds the library, but when I try to access it, I get error "connection refused from remote media library" (message translated from German WMP, maybe text is slightly different in English).

Other people get WMP12 (on Vista ot Win7) to run properly as UPnP client together with Twonky Server.
I can see different potential error sources:
- Twonky Server settings
- Network problems
- Firewall?
- other Windows 7 settings
- Windows Media Player configuration

Any ideas? Thanks!!
