Twonkey to WD TVLive problems

Post by Womble99 » Mon May 03, 2010 2:23 pm

Hi all,

I'm a new user to Twonky so please bear with me. I first installed Twonky Media Server 5.1.3 as a trial on my home network server to push video to a PS3 and a WD TVLive. Both worked like a charm so I purchased the product :D

Here is where the problem started! Once I registered the twonky Server i could no longer see it (or stream media from it) to my WD TVLive unit?? the PS3 still works fine but nothing on the WD? now I have tried the suggested ideas on the forum but to no avail. I have not changed anything in my network setup before the issue arose.

System details:

TwonkyMedia version 5.1.3
Server hardware 1RU Tyan transport
Operating System Win7 Ultimate N
If you are running as a system service (Windows only) yes
Client(s) and their software version WD TVLive
Type(s) of media you are having problems with - All media
How many files you have in your database - 885 videos
Network type (Wired/Wireless) - 10/100 wired cat6
Other items on your network (Router make/model for example) Billion 7404VGP modem/router, 24 port 10/100 switch, PS3, various computers

Please beware I only answer as no one wiser has yet. I have a WD TV Live and twonky server (v4.4) is the only thing that has worked from the start without needing any adjustment of fix. When you say you've tried the suggestions on the forum do you mean this one or WD's? WD usually suggests a hard reset (unplug, wait a bit, plug back in) for similar recalcitrant problems. But I would search and post there:

As some people there are having various problems getting their media servers going.

As for the Tivo side I really can't think of anything except are you sure the server is on? Have you tried resetting the database? (EDIT:) oops. I see you've got it working fine with the PS3. That really suggest to me it's a WD problem. I've found their forum pretty active and helpful so better give it a try.

Best of luck,

Rick
