What can I use this product for?

Sorry to be an awful newbie here but I just bought a Western Digital MyBook II World Edition. I purchased it primarily as a network backup device for my personal media files (music and photos).

I noticed that It has a bundled installation on Twonky Media Server on it but I don't know what it is FOR?

I have an iPod, so I have iTunes on my laptop. I have stored all my music files on the NAS device and setup iTunes to store its library on the NAS device. Apparently I could move all my music into the "Shared Music" folder and then iTunes would be able to browse, and play, the music from there. I don't know if iTunes would be able to sync all of my music onto my iPod if I did that. I haven't tested that yet.

But other than that, what can I actually do with this product? I'm pretty IT savvy (I'm a network administrator by profession) and I've briefly perused the website for this product, and had a nose through the forums etc. But I must admit I'm struggling to think of many real uses for the product.

If it's not too much trouble can some of you guys please let me know what sort of things you use it for?

Cheers,

Joe

By running TMS on your NAS you can stream media files to other devices without having your PC on. I run TMS on a NAS and can stream music, videos and photos to my Samsung TV and my PS3. I can also log in to the web browser page from my iPod Touch and play music on that. There is also an iPod app that connects to TMS as well (PlugPlayer?). You can also integrate your iTunes library with it and stream from it to any compatible media devices.

If you don't have any other media devices you probably don't need to use it.
