Hi together,

I have yesterday payed for the Software (Twonky Media Server) Linux on (DM7025 / 800).

I have installed the programm over Windows with the nasinstaller.exe. It seems all be ok. The Server works and all my Data was correctly collect from Twonky. With my Upnp Clients i have also no problems.

Then I have restartet my DM 800 . And the Twonky restarts also. Then I looked to my adjustments. All Adjusments and the serial key are away. Then i start a new adjusment and saved it once again. Reboot my DM 800. And all adjustments are away.

Then i tried to figure out where the media database could be. I have found nothing in my Linux system (DM 800).


Last but not least. The system tolds me that the serial key is invalid.

ich hab nun Twonky 6.0.23 auf der Dream DM8000 für die SAMSUNG TV ans Laufen bekommen! Bis auf Spulen funktioniert es jetzt.

Habe das alles noch mal zusammen geschrieben. Vielleicht interessiert es ja jemanden?

Auf Eurem Windows PC:
1.)
Den Twonky Server für die DM 7025 runterladen und entpacken

2.)
"Linux MIPS little endian glibc 2.3.2" runterladen und entpacken
http://www.twonkyforum.com/downloads/6. ... .2-6.0.zip

3.)
die beiden Dateien "twonkymediaserver" und "twonkymedia" aus dem entpackten "Linux MIPS little endian glibc 2.3.2" Ordner in den entpackten Ordner "twonkymedia-dm-7025-6.0" kopieren und die beiden Dateien ersetzen

4.)
nassetup.exe aus dem "twonkymedia-dm-7025-6.0" Ordner starten und die IP eurer Box eingeben und Installation starten

5.)
http://ip Adresse-Eurer Box:9000 aufrufen um den Twonkyserver zu konfigurieren.

6.) damit Twonky die Einstellungen bei Reboot nicht verliert die Datei

S99twonky im Verzeichnis /etc/rc3.d/ editieren

(mit der Software putty auf die Box verbinden, siehe hierzu auch Pkt. 7, dann den Midnight Commander mit "mc" aufrufen)

folgenden Parameter (in fett markiert) mitgeben:
twonkymedia –appdata /media/hdd/twonkydb/ &

Datei abspeichern mit F2

Dann wird die Datenbank dauerhaft im Verzeichnis /twonkydb auf der Festplatte erstellt.

7.) weil der Twonkyserver standardmäßig nicht nach dem Neustart der Box mitstartet, ist für den automatischen Start folgenden Symlink anlegen* (Befehlszeile eingeben):

ln -sfn /etc/init /etc/rc3.d/S99twonky

*(über die freie Software putty mit der Einstellung "Telnet" und der IP Adresse der Dreambox verbinden, login:root , passwort:dream)

8.) damit der Stream bei zum SAMSUNG TV nicht nach kurzer Zeit wieder unterbrochen wird, ist in der twonkymedia-server.ini Datei (im Verzeichnis twonkydb) unter

# IP address to listen to
IP=

die IP Adresse Deiner Dreambox einzutragen

I try to install the server on a VU+. After installation the server works but when I reboot the VU+ the server seems not to restart. I set the symlink that you suggested. How can I restart the twonky server using telnet (I do not know much about Linux and even less about the embedded system).

I also installed it on a VU+ and I has the same problems as huk.
Solution:
Log on the system using telnet from within as DOS-Command
cd /etc/rc3.d
S99twonkyserver (or the name of the link in your system) stop => this will stop the server
S99twonkyserver start

This will do the job, the restart button of the server configuration interface won't.

In general, version 6.0 doesn't seem to be very stable, so I stepped back to Version 5.1.6, where I don't have these problems: http://www.twonkyforum.com/downloads/5.1.6/
I used the package "Linux MIPS little endian glibc 2.3.2" without changing any files.

I didn't understand the hint of dixy, to edit the file S99... with the follwoing parameter: twonkymedia -appdata /media/hdd/twonkydb/ &
Where do I have to put that parameter???
I also have the problem that all the settings are lost after reboot...

@Baulaender,
you add the line in the file S99twonky by editing it with a linux editor (such as vi or as used by dixy with mc). This line creates a directory twonkydb and in this directory the changes from the web configuration page will be saved. This will solve the reboot problem. I used the editor vi because I could not figure out how to do it with mc. There are reasonable instructions available for the vi editor. In short
in the directory say: vi S99twonky RETURN
in the editor say: a (to start the editing mode)
move to the end of the text and RETURN to create an empty line
write the line
say: ESC (to stop the editing mode)
say: wq RETURN (to save and exit vi)

The editing of S99twonky is the only change necessary in addition to the replacement of the files twonkymedia and twonkymediaserver from the little endian setup (and I am not sure that the replacement is necessary). The use of the little endian setup is probably the better way to get the twonky server started.

You mention that the version 6.0 is not stable, what were your problems?
