TwonkyMedia Server 5.1.1 on DNS-323 won't save configuration

Hi,

I recently bought a PS3 and installed TwonkyMedia Server v5.1.1 on my DNS-323 to share videos, music and pictures. It works very smoothly. The problem I have is that TwonkyMedia won't save the configuration on the hard disk. Thus, as soon as I reboot the DNS-323, I have to reconfigure Twonky via the web interface and rescan my folders, so I can browse them from the PS3.

I have attempted to find an answer, but nothing.

1- Where can I get the latest version of TwonkyMedia Server for DNS-323? There are no direct links on www.twonky.com.
2- Have you guys already experienced this issue?

Thanks for your help,

Chris :)

Hi,

I found the answer. I am posting it for anybody who would run into this issue in the future.

When /mnt/HD_a2/starttwonky.sh is run for the first time, it creates the folder /var/twonkymedia. Usually, once this folder is created once, it will be used upon reboots.

On the DNS-323, the /var realods itself everytime the DNS-323 reboots. Thus, once started and configured, TwonkyMedia will run smoothly, but will not preserve its configuration after a reboot.

Here is what you have to do to keep the configuration on the DNS-323:

1. Start Twonky by launching /mnt/HD_a2/starttwonky.sh
2. Go to the web interface and configure it the way you like
3. Connect to the DNS-323 with root and copy the /var/twonkymedia/ folder under /mnt/HD_a2/
4. Append the following to /mnt/HD_a2/fun_plug:
cp -R /mnt/HD_a2/twonkymedia /var/
/mnt/HD_a2/starttwonky.sh
5. Reboot and enjoy!

While I dont own one of those, I can appreciate the hard work that goes into solveing an issue
and then sharing the knowledge learned for others to benefit
