Twonky Server 7.3
================
1 New features
· Multi-user support
o Allows setup multiple users with different access rights to the Twonky Server
shares through the Twonky Server settings pages.
o By default multi-user support is disabled. When enabling multi-user support,
two accounts will be created automatically: admin and guest. The admin
account has to be used to setup new users and their access rights. Admin
has full access to the Twonky Server settings pages and to all media shares.
The guest account by default does not have any access to shares. The main
use case for this account is to grant guests access to the home network to
beam content from their own mobile device to connected renderers in the
home. The guest account does not require a login.
o In order to support legacy client devices that are not multi-user capable, a
default account can be assigned to each device. This allows, for example, to
permanently assigning the child account to the device in the children’s room.
This device will then only have access to the content visible to the user child -
without the need for a login. This setting can be over-ruled by a Twonkyenabled
control point that allows authentication.
· The webUI built in into Twonky Server has been extended to a full HTML-5 based
control point that can also be utilized as Remote UI. It supports
o Browsing of other servers
o Beaming to connected renderers
o Renderer control
o Queue management
· Twonky Control Point is directly accessible via TrayApp (for Windows version)
· Navigation tree builder
o Based on the nodes of the 5 pre-defined navigation trees users can build
their own navigation trees and assign them to client devices

4 Known issues
· There can be problems in the navigation tree if there is more than one album with the
same album name. By implementing a way to automatically determine correct Album
and Artist one would lose a tremendous amount of memory and Twonky Server will
become slow. In case you detect an album container with songs from different
albums by navigating through music/album please use music/artist/album for your
navigation to get the albums properly separated. Or, as other users have done,
consider retagging the according albums.
· When updating from 7.2.6 or from 7.2.7 on a Windows system with “preserve settingsâ€
some files will be created directly in the main directory of your system (e.g. C:\).
These are the backup files of the update process. After successful update you
can delete these files without any risk of losing data (files are named n.tms.dat,
7.2.6, db.info, db.info-bak and twonky-locations).
· In multi user mode the PS3 only can show the “Access Denied†message in the
video navigation. It will display 'no tracks' and 'no images' on picture and respectively
music. It should display the “Access denied†message there as well.
· The Tray App for MAC does not have a direct link to the web-based control point
(yet). For the time being, you have to go to the settings page first.
· Playlists that contain URLs starting with “http://†do not work. If you have playlists that
heavily rely on such URL, you may want to defer the update till the next version.
· Some terms in the webUI always show up in English independent of the selected
language.
5 Other
· Access to Online Services through Twonky Server will be discontinued in the near
future and replaced by Cloud features in Twonky SDK. In the current version of
Twonky Server, the option is already turned off by default. You can turn it on again
by changing the ini-file. Set “disablemytwonky=0†and the Online Services are back.
However, in one of the next versions we will remove this feature completely.
· The status information about the scanned files on the settings pages (item count)
has been changed. The status pages now only show how many *local* files have
been scanned. Aggregated or duplicated content is no longer taken into account.
When you browse the content you will see – as before – aggregated content (if
configured accordingly) and duplicates will be filtered out.

If a content item does not contain embedded album art, Twonky Server can use album art from other media items within corresponding album.
Default value is 0, i.e. album art fall-back enabled for music and videos.
disablealbumart_fallback=0

We checked how to improve this behavior but each fix we found would have caused tremendous performance problems so we decided not to offer a fix. In case you have this problem we can only suggest that you manually change the metadata of the album(s) that cause this behavior.

Improvements
- Improved Web UI behavior when the "ignored directories" were changed.
- Improved the installation behavior. If upload or aggregation is disabled for Twonky Server neither the upload nor the mirror folders get created. This is only visible at initial installation - if the upload or mirror folders are present from a former installation of Twonky Server they won't get removed.
- The upload and mirrored folders are configurable now. The new properties can be set in the ini-file and are named:
uploadmusicdir
uploadpicturedir
uploadvideodir
mirroredmusicdir
mirroredpicturedir
mirroredvideodir
If upload and mirroring is disabled no respective folder will be created by Twonky Server.
- We cleaned up the navigation tree. Therefore we eradicated some categories which were duplicates. No functionality was lost with the changes but Twonky Server got faster and uses less memory now.
- Improved Twonky Server’s subtitle support. The server is now able to add subtitle files after the content has already been scanned. Previously, subtitle files had to be placed there prior to the content.
This improvement works only for systems that support file system event notifications.

Improvements

- Improved the standby mode of TwonkyServer:
To enter Standby Mode invoke RPC rpc/enter_standby_mode. On entering Standby Mode TwonkyServer will send byebye messages to the network to indicate to clients it is no longer available
