Navtree's and Windows Media Player 12 ?

Post by phibertron » Mon Mar 14, 2011 1:02 am

I infrequently browse Twonky Server from Windows Media Player 12
There isn’t much one can change on the root navigation in WMP12
The following is shown under Videos

All Videos
Actors
Genre
Rating
Parental Rating
Online Stores
Folder

But the sections don’t report back like one would think
The All Videos seems to work right
The Genre doesn’t separate the multi value items
(currently use a "," to separate them)
Actors shows them all as Unknown
Rating shows them all as Unrated
Parental rating shows them all as unknown
Online stores reports back all videos into an unknown
Folder reports back all videos as "<Current Folder>" just that!

I have done a lot of tinkering around with the navtree's
and have figured out a few things here and there

I know that in some scenarios twonky doesn’t use the navtree views directly

When on an xbox, and one browses Twonky Server for music
the list returned to the xbox is totally irrelevant to the view.xml
it’s like the xbox is asking twonky server literally for
for the container it wants be invoking a call to the ID of the container directly

For ex:
In a few of the DLNA documentation specs I have read
Root = ID 0
Music = ID 1
Video = ID 2
Pictures = ID 3
Playlists = ID 12

Music/All Music = ID 4
Music/Genre = ID 5
Music/Composer = ID 108
and so on..

I think that WMP12 is doing something very similar
I just can’t link the ID's it is not calling right
Which I think is why the returns are all wrong except for a few

Has anyone has been able to tweak WMP12 to work better with Twonky?

Note:
I bet a light just went off in your head about why you see this in the url
webbrowse/O0$1 = Music
webbrowse/O0$2 = Photo
webbrowse/O0$3 = Video
