Editing the files does not change the browsable data

Post by MarkBurgess » Tue Mar 29, 2011 5:58 pm

I am using a Linn DS and AccurateRip from PowerAmp. Sometimes the titles of albums get muddled and two albums will end up mixed together in the same directory. I can separate these by hand, but even after rescanning and rebuiling the database the songs are mixed up on the Linn. It seems once a mistake has happened there is no way to fix it. How do I make manual edits valid?

Its probably something to do with there is the filename of a song
and then there is the mete data name of a song
I would imagine one would have to change both, to ensure that names didnt collide
doesnt sound like fun any way you look at it

Are these MP3? Does their metadata still reflect the old information before you renamed the files?

These are flac and yes they reflect the old state before renaming.

Try updating the metadata - that's probably the problem.

With a Flac tagging tool ;)

I don't use Flac (and don't know what OS you're using) so I can't tell you what to use, but I'd start by looking at the ripping tool you're using and if that doesn't help you try Google.

Ah, of course, the metadata are in the FLAC files... I suppose that is obvious somehow. Thanks, this is helpful.

Try mp3tag for changing the tags (meta-data) in your FLAC (and mp3) files.
