Upgrading from 4.4.9 to latest, license question

Hey all,

I have TwonkyMedia Server 4.4.9 running on my D-link DNS-323. I'm considering upgrading to the latest version, but I don't know if my license will work with it. I also don't know what kind of changes there are between the two versions. Can anyone help me find some answers?

Thanks.

You will need to get (i.e. pay for) a new license. Pre-installed versions have a special OEM license that is not transferable. Read through this thread to find out how to install a new version http://www.twonkyforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=9613
Especially look at the link provided by @Briain

If you want to know what has changed just download the correct NAS version, unzip the file and read through the change log. There is also a post floating around this form that details the changes. You will just have to search.

Thanks for the reply. I'll look around for the changelog.

So, even upgrading to a legacy version like 5.x.x (I forget what exact version Twonky has hosted) I would have to buy a new license? Twonky wasn't pre-installed, I paid for my license and installed it myself. Is there any kind of upgrade option or is it just everyone has to pay the full price no matter what?

I believe if you have a 5.x license that that will work with 6.x.

It is just the OEM and 4.x licenses that won't work with 6.x.
