How to access radio URLs in Twonky?

Post by Kos » Wed May 25, 2011 6:17 pm

I have a radio URL - http://stream.voice.dk/voice128 - how exactly do I place this URL in a folder watched by Twonky so I can access it via Twonky? Should it be converted to a m3u format...? Erhhhh...

I also have an URL in this format - http://www.dr.dk/netradio/Metafiler/asx/dr_p3_128.asx - same question...

I am sure this is banale.... sorry...

(I tried this - http://twonkyforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=8554 - not working...)

You are trying to put a playlist (i.e. the asx url) into another playlist (either m3u or wpl). This won't work. Look inside the asx and you will see these url's for the media stream-

http://wmscr2.dr.dk/e02ch03m?wmcontentbitrate=300000

...well... copying your URL to a notepad and saving it as a m3u and placing it where twonky looks makes the m3u visible with twonky in the playlists folder - but still unplayable. However, I can play the m3u file on my computer.

ps: how do you look 'inside' the url... btw....

The streams appear to be WMA 9.1 so what ever your media player is it needs to be able to play that codec.

To view the contents of an ASX (right click on the URL link and choose Save As), you download the ASX file and save it somewhere on your hard disk. Then right click on the file and choose Edit with Notepad++ (if you have this installed) or Open With->Notepad. You will then see that an ASX is just an XML encoded playlist.
