Hi!
I have upgrade my TwonkyServer to version 6.0.30 on my QNAS TS-659 Pro
but I am not able to play .mkv files on my Samsung UE46D8005 LED TV.
This is the main reason that forced me to upgrade twonky.
Music and photos works fine. Videos (not .mkv files) works also.
But with .mkv files I receive an error message on my TV like "Not Supported File Format".
The mkv files are shown in the library but when I try to play them I receive the err message above.
The same .mkv files on my USB Stick connected directlly on TV's USB work just fine.

Did anyone succeded to play mkv files on Samsung TV after twonky upgrade?

Keep in mind the USB port uses a different media player than the Ethernet port, so that doesn't mean much. I know that 6.0 has always worked well with most MKV files and Samsung TV, but it's possible you have one that contains a codec your TV doesn't support or Samsung has pushed a fireware update that has broken this. Is anyone else having problems with this.

hm...
I downgrade TwonkyServer 6.0.30 to TwonkyServer 5.1.16 and my Samsung LED TV UE46D8005 can read "some" mkv video files. Samsung UE46D8005 is new model (6 week old) and my other Samsung UE32B655 have same problem too.
Do you still thinking Samsung is problem?

Nope. If it works when you downgrade from 6.0 to 5.1, then it sounds to me like it could be our problem.

There are so many different types of MKV files that it might be hard for us to fix this without a test file. Is there anyway you could upload a short test file to us if I give you our FTP address?

Hi
I make some test... I install last TwonkyServer 6.0.32 on my Mac in same network with my 2 Samsungs DLNA but I was not able to play .mkv files I receive an error message on my TV like "Not Supported File Format". I install new software TVMOBILI Media Server on my iMac and all .mkv files working fine!
My judgement is:
Samsung LED TV UE46D8005 is not problem
QNAP TS-659 Pro is not problem
TwonkyServer 6.0.30 is....
Yes I want send(upload) to you my .mkv fils.

You can upload a test file to our blind FTP server here:

ftp://sftp.pv.com/upload

You should see a folder labeled sftp.pv.

If you expand it, you should see another folder labeled “upload”.

Copy your problem file into this folder and send a message to tmm-beta@pv.com letting us know what the file is named, along with details about the problems your experiencing. You can cut and paste that from your last forum post.

I have the same problem with my Samsung TV. It looks like the content type sent by Twonky is "video/x-matroska" which Samsung TVs don't recognize for some reason. If you change the content type to "video/x-mkv" then it should play.

Hello frekovea!

What you mean? Where I should do that? On TwonkyServer or Samsung TV (I have Samsung UE46D8005 with SmartHub).

Goran

p.s.
I still using TVMOBILI Media Server for my .mkv files. I install last version of TwonkyServer 6.0.34 but I have same problem.

Hey

Sorry If i missed this in the thread, but have you set the media receiver to be Samsung TV?

If you go to your twonky setuppage http://NASNAME:9000, click the spanner, media receivers, find the one which is your tv and in the drop down list set it to Samsung TV.. I had to do this before MKV's worked..

It has been noted by the devs as something to fix.

(I'm assuming we have a similar enough setup for this to be valid, I use a WD MyBookLive NAS which i upgraded myself and a Samsung UE37D5520)

Thanks
