Hello,
I have the following configuration:
Twonky 6.0.34 is installed on the Dreambox 7025. The media content (music and pictures) are on a NAS (LevelOne FNS-1000). The videos are on an externel USB-drive connected to the NAS.
My twonkymedia-server.ini is configured as follows:
contentbase=/media/net
contentdir=+P|/NAS-Bilder,+M|/NAS-Musik,+V|/USB-Filme
All is fine if the Twonky server on the Dreambox is switched on together or after the USB drive. But if the USB drive is switched on after the Twonky-Server, no videos can be seen in the database.
Is there a chance to configure the twonky-server in a way I am able to start the USB drive after the Server and then I will be able to watch the videos on the USB-drive?
I think there are the entries 'rmdrives', 'rmhomedrive' and 'rmautoshare', but I don't know how to deal with them.
Could anybody please help me??
Thanks
How to configure a removable device
Re: How to configure a removable device
No Answer up to now.
Maybe noone has read my post, or noone knows how to deal with removable devices in the way I do.
This leads me to the question if there exist a description of the enties in the ini-file somewhere. I mean not only a listing like here http://www.twonkyforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=9497. Here only some settings are described. This is a good start, but many settings are not described here. I mean a complete description of each setting entry in the ini file.
That would be very helpful in configuring Twonky after buying it.
Thanks
Dreamer

Re: How to configure a removable device
The trouble is that it scans the drives on startup. The only solution would be to ensure you had the USB drive switched on first, or to manually restart Twonky (if that is possible) after you switch the drive on.
No longer running Twonky
Re: How to configure a removable device
Thank you DaemonBeetle for your reply.
Unfortunately it is not possible to restart the Twonky server since it is running on the Sat-receiver.
But once again; what about the entries 'rmdrives', 'rmhomedrive' and 'rmautoshare' in the twonkymedia-server.ini?
Does anybody knows what they are for?
Meanwhile I updated to version 6.0.39

Re: How to configure a removable device
Have you tried the 'Restart server' option in the Twonky config>Maintenance web page?Dreamer wrote: Unfortunately it is not possible to restart the Twonky server since it is running on the Sat-receiver.
As far as I know the purpose and function of these options is unknown. But once again; what about the entries 'rmdrives', 'rmhomedrive' and 'rmautoshare' in the twonkymedia-server.ini?

Re: How to configure a removable device
As I understand it
'rmdrives', 'rmhomedrive' and 'rmautoshare' are used in two ways
1.
on windows server, in previous versions of twonky
it used the rmhomedrive setting
it used it because the folder was on an psuedo array, based off of driver extender
which in theory isnt actually a drive letter, as the reall drive letters existed
and as to not confuse twonky, it was told where to go
2.
in the linux/ nas world
as I understand it, there are some installs by oems,
that have the database and settings etc, in a folder that it is wiped on reboot
so I do know that, if one wanted to not lose there settings on reboot
they would have to set the rmhomedrive to a path that would be retained on reboot
this totally a guess, here goes...
if the rmhomedrive is like the above
then the rmdrives and rmautoshare must be for paths that will be pre-told to twonky
and that they might not be there on startup, or that they may go offline/disconected
In any case I think that the three settings are sort of related to the mount command in linux
in a wierd way
