Twonky does not play lossless WMA files

I am using Twonly with a Denon AVR3310, Linksys router and i7 PC with 6 gb of ram. It will not play my lossless WMA files - I keep getting a message saying "file type unsupported". Lossy WMAs play fine.
HOWEVER, if I use windows media as my server software these files play.
Why?
Thanks.

Is WMP transcoding them to lossy WMA before streaming?

Does the Denon AVR3310 support lossless WMA?

According to Denon UK website ( http://www.denon.co.uk/site/popup/index ... start&ver=) the Denon 3310 supports "MP3, WMA (DRM), AAC (not DRM), WMA Losless Transcode, FLAC, WAV" formats.

I do not know why they would play in WMP and not Twonky. The lossless WMP files are not copy protected.

I'd use FLAC, but FLAC playback always arranges the tracks in alphabetical order, even when I number them

The link shows that the Denon doesn't support WMA Lossless natively or it would be able to play it from USB (only WMA and WMA(DRM) are listed).

For streaming it lists WMA Lossless Transocde - this link seems to agree with my suggestion that WMP is transcoding to WMA lossy before streaming.

This other post also suggests that Denons (not necessarily your model) need WMA Lossless to be transcoded.
