I use to run Twonky media server on my iMac and I was very happy with it.
Now I have purchased a Linksys Wifi Router E4200. Twonky server embedded works fine with all my devices except with my Samsung D8000 Led TV.
In the Mac version I must identify manually the player (Samsung TV), if not mkv won't play.
The question is: How can I select the device in the Linksys E4200? The config page is not available and displays "Access is restricted to mediaserver configuration"
Thank you for your help.

Re: Access is Restricted to mediaserver
I believe that Linksys asked us to restrict access to the server settings.
I'll report this issue to our developers. If they are aware of a way around this, I'll let you know.

Re: Access is Restricted to mediaserver
I am in the same situation with out the configuration my movies will not play on my Samsung UN55D8000. I am dead in the water for what I am using the E4200 for until there is a fix or a work around is found. Is there a way to install a full functioning Twony media server either on the router or the hard drive that is connected to the router?
Re: Access is Restricted to mediaserver
I made the same question in Linksys forums, nobody understood the problem. Cannot use my E4200 as a media server...grrr

We are looking into the problems with Samsung 8000 series TVs. This just started when they pushed their last firmware update.

Re: Access is Restricted to mediaserver
Hi Rick
I have a Samsung D8000.
In my experience always was needed to identify the device under the section "Media Receivers", the same with my Samsung Bluray player BD-6500. Doesn't matter the version of the firmware. My TV came with version 1015 and now the last is 1023.
For both devices it is mandatory to select the option "Samsung TV" in order to play any mkv file. If not the device displays "unknown codec" and refuses to play.
I have purchased twonky for mac and I am very happy with it!! Because of my good experience I decided to move my media server to a brand new Linksys E4200 with twonky embedded. (My plan was to turn off my Mac)
Sadly options are blocked in the E4200 and I cannot access the config page to select the right device (Samsung TV), so I cannot play mkv.
Now I am back to my Mac waiting for a fix.
Tell me if I can collaborate doing some experience with my Tv and Bluray.
Thank you!

Re: Access is Restricted to mediaserver
Thanks for sharing this. As you know, you can't manually change the device profiles on the 4200 (their choice, not ours)
Sounds like we need to fix the auto-detection for the 8000 series TVs or create a new device profile for the 8000 series TVs. I could be wrong. Passing this input on to the engineers as well.
